This booklet presents information on rape and offers practical suggestions for reducing the risk of rape in the Federal workplace.
Abstract
After emphasizing the importance of assuming responsibility for personal security against rape, the booklet offers a multiple-choice test on rape-avoidance measures both to test the reader's knowledge of rape-prevention practices and to educate readers by means of the answers. Some common falsehoods about rape are exposed and the 'facts' are presented. Practical advice on preventive measures covers the use of a parking garage and restroom, working late, traveling after dark, using an elevator, and rape prevention measures while staying in an unfamiliar city. Advice also covers what to do if raped, counseling a coworker who has been raped, and procedures for dealing with sexual harassment on the job.
