The project entailed bringing 10 patients being treated for cocaine addiction in a residential treatment center together with school students in Highland County to present drug information on crack awareness. The patients, who also had alcohol problems, were administered the Coopersmith Self Esteem Index at the Florida Alcoholism Treatment Center both before and after the school participation. Results showed a statistically significant increase in mean average scores with 7 of the 10 showing improvement. Evaluation of the educational effort revealed a constructive impact on the students.
