The purpose of this survey was to determine the dental treatment needs of recently incarcerated Texas Department of Corrections inmates and to compare the time required to satisfy these needs to the professional manpower resources available within the department's dental care system.
Abstract
A total of 637 recently incarcerated inmates were examined clinically and radiographically. Their dental care needs were determined and recorded. For the total sample the dental treatment needs were found to exceed the available professional resources. Sufficient resources were available to only partially satisfy routine requirements.
