Abstract
It is designed to serve as a major reference text to annotated bibliographies, research projects, and private and community service sources. In addition to providing information on sources of books such as card catalogs, microforms, and reserve books; it provides topical listings of indexing services, journals, bibliographies, computerized literature searches, directories, and general reference sources. Guidelines are provided for locating Government documents and for obtaining information from such Federal agencies as the Bureau of Prisons, the Federal Judicial Center, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Services available through the National Criminal Justice Reference Service are described. Other sources discussed include those for statistical data, legal research, international data, and historical research. Also included are specialized libraries in the United States and Canada, and private organizations. Audiovisual companies, libraries, and references are listed. Appendixes provide additional information on the research process, writing research papers, grants, and publishing opportunities. A glossary also is provided.
