Within the context of risk analysis and intervention, Part 1 examines security system concepts and reviews the fundamentals of space detection, including indoor and outdoor intruder and movement detection and surveillance. Alarm communication and control is discussed, with a focus on alarm reliability and the cause and control of false alarms. Movement control of personnel and materials, vehicle security, and espionage and countermeasures also are explored. Part 2 examines the pros and cons and application of a variety of security products of interest to the security system designer. These include switching, passive and active infrared, ultrasonic, microwave radar and fence, microphonic, and field-wave sensors; closed-circuit television, door controls, signaling and control equipment, access controls, personnel and material inspection equipment; and power supplies. Installation, operation, and maintenance of security equipment and systems are discussed in Part 3. Also covered are user training, monitoring, and feedback.
