Overall, there were only minimal differences between the two groups in the total number of out-of-home placements used: 57 percent of home-based clients were in shelter placements, compared with 37 percent of comparison clients. In addition, home-based clients used nearly 1,900 fewer days in placement and completed placement episodes successfully at higher a rate than did comparison clients. Home-based clients also completed placements successfully in a shorter time and spent fewer days in 'failed' placements. Home-based clients used a smaller proportion of available placement time used by both groups varied by client age, sex, race, and placement history.
