Abstract
The document, developed with the assistance of a panel of experts presents instructional approaches consistent with childrens' abilities at various grade levels, contains suggestions for involving parents and the larger community in selecting and implementing the curriculum, and provides guidelines for selecting training programs for administrative and teaching staff in assessing the effectiveness of the curriculum. The guide emphasizes that parents and the community must support and reinforce the in-school, anti-drug program by articulating and supporting a clear anti-drug policy, providing support and referral services, and maintaining extracurricular activities that are drug-free. Appendixes list federal and State resources available to those planning drug prevention curricula. 41 footnotes.
