Individual chapters examine emerging issues; the evolution of contemporary police service; the governmental setting of policing and issues of accountability, control, and jurisdiction; police corruption and factors contributing to it and to reform; and organizational forces and change. Others consider specific areas such as patrol administration, traffic supervision, criminal investigation, organized crime, community crime prevention, and juvenile programs.
