Seven articles pertaining to the initiation of a suit include a discussion of a strategy for seeking Federal court jurisdiction and guidelines for the use and conduct of arbitration. Sixteen articles on discovery focus on the application of the Federal Rules of Discovery and discovery in various contexts, such as informal witness investigation, formal discovery from nonparties, and discovery from corporate heads. Five articles on depositions focus on the tactics and procedures for conducting depositions. Issues pertinent to the use and preparation of expert witnesses are discussed in six articles. Federal Rules governing the use of expert witnesses are reviewed as is the preparation of expert witnesses for testimony. Articles on other major topics address the techniques of persuasion in legal forums, trial procedures, preparing and examining witnesses at trial, evidence issues, appeal, settlement, special problems of the criminal case, and special problems in civil litigation.
