To meet the growing threat of interception of private transmissions, a compact, portable, video scrambler has been developed that can be employed in virtually any new or existing surveillance/monitoring system.
Abstract
As sophisticated communications equipment becomes readily available to the general public, transmissions on government, police, or military bands can no longer be considered private. The risk of compromise to operational security can arise by deliberate efforts to eavesdrop on law enforcement or inadvertent interference to nearby entertainment or communications equipment. The new HDS scrambler assures that any intercepted video will have no correlation whatever with the original video source. In addition, the scrambler is usable with other wideband communication waveforms, such as multichannel audio and digital data. 3 figures, 2 references. (Author abstract modified)
