This publication provides summary information on the volume and movement of offenders under Wisconsin Division of Corrections supervision during 1988.
Abstract
A total of 37,849 offenders were under supervision on December 31, 1988, while the average daily offender population under supervision totaled 32,754. Adult resident populations increased 3.6 percent from 5,805 to 6,014 during the year. The number of residents in juvenile offender institutions decreased 1.9 percent from 540 to 530. The number of offenders under community supervision increased 1.7 percent from 26,576 to 27,033, while the number of community supervision cases placed on absconder status increased 12.1 percent from 3,811 to 4,272. The average daily population of adult offenders under parole supervision increased 4.7 percent from 3,302 in 1987 to 3,456 in 1988. Detailed statistical data are provided.
