The Tennessee Department of Correction directly supervises approximately 24,000 adult Tennesseans convicted of criminal offenses and 3,000 juveniles referred by juvenile court.
Abstract
Statistics provided on adults include inmate population growth by sex and race, admissions by county, age, and marital status, and releases by sex and race. Length of stay, releases by type, and inmate State of birth, military service, and educational background are also included. Statistics provided on juveniles cover commitments and recommitments and juvenile population by race, age, and sex. Major juvenile incidents and assaults, juvenile counseling and treatment, and juvenile probation statistics are presented. Also included are longest average stays for adults and juveniles.
