Length
102 pages
Annotation
This bibliography focuses on issues related to AIDS and its etiologic agent HIV as they affect the delivery of health services.
Abstract
The content is intentionally selective, including, for example, scientific and biomedical literature to the extent that the articles are relevant to health services research. Special issues of scholarly publications and State medical association journals devoted to AIDS have been included. Provision of care is addressed in separate sections on community care and inhospital care. Issues related to costs, financing, or insurance are treated in a single section. Guidelines for disease control, risk reduction, and education are included in a prevention category. AIDS-related public health initiatives at the Federal, State, and local level make up a general public policy section. Finally, a section on legal and ethical issues addresses physician liability, confidentiality questions, treatment dilemmas, conditions of releasing medical records and test results, and considerations for AIDS research.
