Since its establishment in 1953 the Customs Cooperation Council (CCC) has been actively involved in efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking.
Abstract
The council has adopted legal measures designed to meet the requirements of member nations in their efforts to promote the prevention, investigation, and repression of customs offenses, including drug smuggling. CCC also studies patterns and trends in drug trafficking and promotes methods of detecting drug smuggling and the financial transactions associated with it. CCC also publishes studies and handbooks that serve as practical guides to national customs administrations of member nations. In its work to combat drug trafficking, the CCC cooperates with the United Nations agencies that are concerned with drug control and with the International Criminal Police Organization.
