Also, research reveals that the typical murder or serious assault caused by casual misuse of firearms is unplanned and arises out of a domestic altercation. The criminal element will always be able to acquire firearms, but restriction on ownership and possession through comprehensive gun legislation will undoubtedly reduce the number of victims.
