Abstract
The first part of this resource manual enables communities to base their program of injury prevention on factual data and proven planning techniques. It stresses the importance of citizen involvement and collaboration among key organizations in both private and public sectors. The second part provides specific detail and additional references on the state of the art in traffic injuries, residential injuries, recreational injuries, occupational injuries, violence and injury, assaultive injuries, child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse, rape and sexual assault, suicide, and firearm injuries. Part three describes the community's response to injuries and the emergency medical service and trauma care systems which minimize the negative consequences of injuries. References, glossary, index.
