More than 1000 services, organizations, and facilities are listed that treat people with alcohol, drug abuse, compulsive gambling, eating disorder, or smoking problems. The assemblers contacted every licensed facility in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey in order to verify information already collected. In cases where the facility did not return the questionnaire, the profile was written using data from the licensing authorities, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals, and independent research. Each profile includes the name of the facility, location, sponsoring organization, program focus, services, treatment, special programs, setting, number of clients and beds, age range, restrictions or barriers, payment and insurance policies, length of treatment, office hours, child care, access to the nearest city, and licensing information.
