The majority of the committee members were particularly concerned about local police organizations and their readiness to address terrorism both now and in the future. The group noted that although Canada is perceived as having little terrorism, many incidents have occurred. In addition, international statistics show increased casualties and the use of advanced technology in bombings. The group agreed that preparedness is essential, that the general response to an incident would probably be the same as for any crime, and that a mechanism should be established for dealing with any incident identified as a terrorist act.
