This report details the history, activities, ideology, and strategies used by the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazi groups, the "Identity Church" movement, and other hate groups in the United States.
Abstract
It also examines the training methods of these groups, extremist activity in prisons, and methods by which law enforcement, government, the courts, the media, the schools, the armed forces, churches, business, organized labor, and human rights organizations can counter extremism. The discussion notes that at least 67 hate organizations are active in the United States today and that many have a history of involvement in violence. It emphasizes that the groups are diverse, although many have common ideologies and goals. Appended information on recent convictions of hate group figures, terminology used by the Ku Klux Klan, list of groups and publications, and index are included.
