Individual articles explain the sources of the myth that campuses are safe and describe the violence in residence halls as a form of domestic violence. Further papers describe methods of addressing sexual violence on campus and of educating for prevention, compare approaches to counseling victims and perpetrators in different college communities, explore the rule of campus police and other security personnel, and analyze issues related to the rights and liabilities of campus administrators. A concluding chapter analyzes responses ranging from the use of local civil authority to on-campus disciplinary proceedings and lists factors that influence the institution's response.
