The most significant events of that year were the investigation (including over 1,600 interviews) of the murders of three women and subsequent indictment of a suspect and the division's attainment of accreditation status. It received 96,085 calls for service; made 11,404 criminal arrests, 15,852 traffic arrests, and 4,335 crime prevention checks; issued 9,717 traffic warnings; and investigated 3,912 accidents. The Criminal Investigation Unit investigated 828 cases and cleared 74 percent of them.
