This paper describes the acquisition reasons for a functional office furniture system for the 762-person El Paso Police Department in their new headquarters.
Abstract
Three hundred twenty clustered workstations were purchased from Hamilton Sorter Co. Inc. in Fairfield (OH) for the Departments of Traffic, Identification and Records, Burglary, Forgery, Community Services, and Crimes Against People. The workstations accommodate 2 to 6 people, require less floor space, and provide up to 75 percent more work surface than a 30 by 60 inch desk; privacy and functionality are the main advantages of these systems. In addition to the clusters, the El Paso Police Department installed Biotech ergonomically-designed VDT workstations which reduce glare and fatigue for use in departments which utilized personal computers, such as in the new communications room with the 911 Emergency Call System. Photographs and special review of municipal lease and financing arrangements.
