Following a description of the development of the Federal Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Action Plan To Prevent Illegal Drug Use by Juveniles, this bulletin describes related program resources available to States and local communities through Coordinating Council agencies.
Abstract
The selected programs illustrate the diverse antidrug initiatives supported by Coordinating Council agencies. The brief descriptions of programs and program resources are intended to entice States and local communities to access these resources directly or use them as models. The risk-focused program resources described include training and technical assistance, demonstration projects, block grants, and research. Many involve interagency collaboration. Thirty-two programs and resources are described. They include Alcohol Highway Safety Workshops for Juvenile Court Judges; Project Graduation, which encourages alcohol-free and drug-free celebrations for high school graduation; TeamSpirit, which encourages demonstration projects to develop high school student leaders through conferences on leadership skills and drug/alcohol knowledge; Project Rescue, which provides rehabilitation services to young adults and children victimized in sex and drug industries; and a program for the vocational rehabilitation of the drug-free young adult. Contact persons, funding amounts, and program goals are mentioned for each program. A program of research projects in the drug testing of juveniles is also profiled.
