This report, published on the fortieth anniversary of the Kentucky State Police, details the operations and investigations of the agency during 1988 and 1989.
Abstract
The Operations Division provides complete police services to the citizens of Kentucky and officials of other law enforcement agencies. The division prevents traffic accidents; works to detect, apprehend, and convict criminal law violators; investigates organized crime, stolen motor vehicles, illegal drug use, corruption; and provides security for the governor, lieutenant governor, and their families. The specific accomplishments of each post are outlined. The Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations Branch is responsible for conducting investigations into narcotics violations, white collar and organized crime, and business and government fraud and corruption. Significant investigations conducted by the various branch sections are described. The functions of the Administrative Branch include providing staff training, statistical analyses, inspections and evaluations, budgets, manpower allocations, and in-house assistance programs. Finally, the Service Division coordinates and manages the activities of the Information Services Branch and the Trooper Island program.
