This report describes the programs operated by the Florida Children, Youth and Families Services Program Office (CYF) during fiscal year 1988-89 and the progress they are making in achieving their intended outcomes in the areas of delinquency prevention and diversion, status offender services, child welfare services, delinquency services, and substance abuse and mental health services.
Abstract
The analysis focused on 39 programs and used agency data as the basis for recommending modifications, improvements, maintenance, expansion, or elimination of services. The analysis showed mixed results in outcomes in comparison to fiscal year 1986-87. Nevertheless, compared with performance elsewhere, Florida's outcomes are good. The programs focus on prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, the provision of alternatives to court processing for juvenile offenders, services for juvenile runaways and truants, services for other juvenile status offenders, services for children with special needs, crisis intervention and counseling, and other services.
