These materials are designed for use in developing and operating a neighborhood watch program in cooperation with the police department of Northumbria, England.
Abstract
Individual flyers explain the nature and benefits of neighborhood watch programs, the role of the contact person for the neighborhood, the role of the police and civilian neighborhood watch staff, and a committee structure to use in a program. Additional publications present a skills checklist, instructions for developing a formal constitution for an organization, the use of meetings, communication techniques, fundraising, recruitment, and the use of awards and street signs. Additional materials include police guidelines for supporting neighborhood watch programs and an evaluation instrument and instructions.
