The laws of 49 states are currently in effect. The Massachusetts law is also presented; it had been passed and submitted to the governor, but not signed into law by June 1990. Each law is presented in terms of its title, definitions, offenses, elements of offenses, penalties, venue, civil remedy, and legislative purpose. Other provisions, citations, and sources are also listed. Materials in general criminal statues are omitted when they are irrelevant to computer crime.
