This report presents statistical information about female offenders in Georgia Women's Correctional Institution (GWCI).
Abstract
It provides sociodemographic data as well as information regarding rural or urban background, marital status, parental status, literacy level, and type of crime committed (property, personal, or drug sale or possession). Previous incarceration history, probation or parole revocation, types of releases from prison, and average length of stay for felons and misdemeanors are also included. It lists some of the problems the women inmates face at GWCI and how the Department of Corrections deals with these issues. Important trends are described for female admissions and female releases in the Georgia system, disciplinary reports, substance abuse in transitional center inmates, and employment status at time of arrest for transitional center inmates. 45 tables
