The Florida Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) program is designed to collect accurate crime data from all law enforcement agencies in the State; 1989 was the first year of complete data collected under Florida's enhanced UCR program.
Abstract
In addition to the seven index offenses of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft, the enhanced UCR program introduced an additional seven crime categories for which data were collected (forcible sodomy, forcible fondling, kidnaping and abduction, drugs, bribery, embezzlement, and fraud). For the additional crime categories, 115,828 individuals and/or businesses were victims in 1989, and property loss totaled over $51 million. The index crime volume reached 1,120,515, and the index crime rate per 100,000 residents was 8,755.9. Of 1,395,902 victims of crime, most were individuals and businesses. The annual report for 1989 details UCR program features and provides State-level crime data. Data are also tabulated for arrests, with judicial circuit and county and municipal data provided as well. Appendixes contain a glossary of terms, arrest and data element definitions, and an index. 88 tables and charts
