This monograph provides a broad perspective on delinquency prevention as it has evolved in the United States including a historical overview of past prevention efforts.
Abstract
The chapter focusing on past and current prevention practices considers each set of programs on the basis of recent theory and research regarding the sources of delinquency. It describes a promising approach based on organizational change strategies and includes supportive evidence, an analysis of the theoretical basis for an organizational change approach, and an example of the application of this theory to the school. The final chapter defines the criteria for judging the technical assistance requests and outlines the steps involved in requesting technical assistance. It also identifies the modes of technical assistance which may be provided. 2 appendixes
