Several positive results were observed in the first 6 months of the test. These include: a decrease of approximately 18 percent in patrol court overtime but a 14-percent increase in the non-test patrol divisions; a 50-percent decrease in extended duty overtime but a slight increase during the same period in the non-test patrol divisions; a 13-percent decrease in shift differential costs in the test division and a slight increase in the non-test patrol divisions; a decrease of 39 percent in industrial injuries in Operations South but an average 30-percent increase during the same period in non-test patrol divisions; and a 25-percent decrease in citizen complaints but an average increase of 4 percent in complaints in the non-test patrol divisions. Two significant negative effects of the change to 4-10 schedules were observed: Identification Section court-related overtime more than doubled and sick leave in Operations South increased about 20 percent while the non-test divisions reported an approximate 12-percent decrease in sick leave during the same period. 45 figures
