Abstract
A number of publications focus on homicide patterns and trends in Florida. These include an analysis of homicide patterns and trends in Dade County (1917-83), police officers killed in Dade County (1895-1991), the criminal justice system's handling of homicide in Dade County, proposed Florida legislation that would weaken laws that restrict concealed weapons, homicide victimization rates in Dade County, and homicides involving Hispanics in Dade County. Two publications negatively critique Colorado's law that provides justification for a homeowner who uses physical force, including deadly force, to stop an intruder into the home. A number of documents focus on gender, age, and ethnic aspects of homicide. Female homicide offenders, elderly homicide offenders, homicide among black Americans, and homicide among Hispanics are discussed in a number of publications. Various categories of murder victims are discussed as well. Types of homicide considered include the killing of abusive husbands and "mercy" killings. Racial and sexual discrimination in the disposition of homicide cases are also addressed in a number of publications.
