DIADS has four components designed to provide the school with a range of information and decision support tools to facilitate program implementation: (1) Information about alcohol and other drugs and drug prevention and intervention programs; (2) Resource Data Base with exemplary drug abuse prevention programs that include curriculum, peer, student assistance, parent, and community programs; (3) Assessment of the strength of their present drug prevention program; and (4) Action Plan that walks teachers through a step-by-step planning process necessary to implement additional drug abuse prevention programming in their schools. A pilot test of DIADS yielded critical information how the system was used in various locations and by various professions in the school-based drug abuse prevention field. 4 tables, 1 figure, and 11 references (Author abstract modified)
