This annual report highlights the activities of the New Jersey Bureau of Parole, whose mission it is to assist persons under parole supervision to achieve self-control and self-direction within limits set by legal constraints and conditions of their release.
Abstract
The report outlines the Bureau's goals and objectives, and its anticipated needs and issues. Major units of the Bureau are described including the central office, district offices, and institutional parole program. The report summarizes the Governor's 1991 budget recommendations relating to the Bureau, and discusses highlights of the past year and developments of interest. The report covers personnel, caseload, discharge prior to expiration of the maximum sentence, and probable cause hearings. Other topics discussed in the annual report include ratio of field to office time, off-hour visits, casebook reviews, furlough/home visit/work/study programs, the Institutional Parole Program, and team supervision. In addition, the report describes special programs including the intensive surveillance/supervision program, home confinement program, intensive parole drug program, and juvenile aftercare program. Some of the other issues which are examined briefly include public relations, return to institutions, and missing cases. 4 tables and 1 appendix
