The Good Neighborhood committee responded with proposals for information liaison officers for schools, a shuttle bus for the area, a practice facility for garage bands, discount movie theater tickets, an Outward Bound type of adventure course, a no-wine bar, and a safe train. The student information officer would be a paid position and would provide information about activities within the community to young people and to their parents. The shuttle bus program identified a need for better transportation systems within the local community. Additional funding to that from the Victoria State government for the garage bands facilities was provided by Rage Without Alcohol and the QUIT campaign. Discount tickets and family concessions may increase the use of cinema attendance by families. The Great North-South Walk, an outdoor course in western Victoria, provides a viable sentencing option to courts, and the no wine bar provides a viable alternative to alcoholic beverages in licensed and public facilities. The train program uses reduction of cars and provision of policemen and entertainment to increase the safety and frequency of use of public transportation. The main benefit of each of the programs is that it has led to the development of extensive networking within the community.
