Annotation: This directory provides summary statistics on the adult and juvenile correctional systems in the United States and Canada as well as detailed information about individual correctional departments, institutions, and personnel.
Abstract: The listings of adult and juvenile corrections includes an overview of the organization of services; the telephone and fax numbers of central office administrative staff; and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of institutions, community-based programs, parole boards, probation and parole services, and court services. The entry for each institution includes the year opened, capacity, average daily population, security level, offender type, offender age limits, American Correctional Association accreditation, cost per inmate per day and year, and number of employees. The directory also presents statistical tables containing State and national data on correctional budgets, offender populations, and correctional budgets. Information is also included on departments and institutions under court order and on the use of sentences of capital punishment. Detailed information is also provided about the American Correctional Association, its meetings, code of ethics, members, and publications.
