This article reviews the record of the first national symposium on court management, which was held in 1981 and which brought together scholars, judges, and court administrators to consider developments in the field of court management. |

|
Abstract: |
Participants had mixed views about how far the field had developed, whether court management had benefited the judicial system, and whether a profession of court management had emerged. Uncertainty also existed regarding the appropriate division of labor and relationships between court administrators and judges. Nevertheless, the worth of accomplishments of court managers was not a core issue at the second national conference held a decade later. In addition, at the second conference, several concepts related to organizational issues, including concept of the judge-administrator team, were expanding and dynamic ones. 2 references (Author abstract modified) |
