This report covers the activities of the Buffalo Police Department for 1990.
Abstract
Highlights of the year include continued efforts in the area of street drugs problems and modernization of police services. Two special squads were formed to work with the Narcotics Squad which has made a total of 3,417 narcotic arrests. Fifty new vehicles were purchased, and a contract for installation of a computer-aided dispatch and record management systems was obtained. Information is also provided on the budgetary status of the department; demographics of Buffalo; police and civilian personnel statistics, including salaries; crime analysis by precinct; and number of arrests. Statistical data are provided on number of calls for police service; a 5-year comparison of FBI Part I crimes; and an analysis of complaints by Council district, by shift and day, and by precinct. The FBI part II crimes are categorized by precinct also. Offenses known to the police include criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. The FBI arrests Part I and Part II arrests are listed by offense with data on sex, age, and race. Traffic accidents are listed by type and traffics summonses and parking violation by type and year of issue between 1987 and 1990.
