This monthly profile of the inmate population of Florida's detention facilities presents average daily population figures for February 1993 which are collapsed into male and female categories for both adult and juvenile inmates.
Abstract
There were 34,307 inmates on average in Florida's county detention facilities during February 1993. This represents a 1.3-percent increase over the January 1993 inmate population. The statewide average daily population totals for February include 29,857 adult males, 3,516 adult females, and 934 juvenile offenders. Of the total inmate population, 70.6 percent were incarcerated for felony offenses, 21.2 percent for misdemeanor crimes, and 8.2 percent for other reasons. Those held for trial represented 57.1 percent of the inmate population. Inmates detained for probation violation represented 6.9 percent. During February 1993, 12 counties (17.91 percent) had average daily inmate populations in excess of the Department of Corrections rated capacity. 3 figures and 4 tables
