In the adult system, the operating costs per day to the State of institutional community corrections facilities exceeded the daily operating cost of prisons. The costs per day for the State were $48.24 for combination centers, $53.79 for drug abuse treatment facilities, $45.70 for prison units, and $43.51 for a minimum security regional reintegration prison unit. Local jurisdictions cover more than half the operational costs of supervision and facilities for the juvenile probation system, while they cover less than one-third of the cost for the adult probation system.
