These standards for the administration of correctional agencies are intended for use by the central offices of organizations that include correctional residential programs for both adult and juvenile correctional systems.
Abstract
The standards have three goals. They aim to ensure that the policies, procedures, and practices of the agency are sufficiently to provide adequate standards for the effective, professional operation of the central office. They also aim to ensure that the central office policies and procedures provide corrections administrators and personnel the necessary direction toward total agency goal achievement. The third goal is to reduce the overall time, effort, and paperwork required for auditing facilities within the agency. The standards focus on general administration, fiscal management, personnel, training and staff development, case records, information systems and research, citizen involvement and volunteers, the physical plant, institutional operations and services, and inmate programs. Glossary, index, form for proposing a revision of a standard, lists of committee and staff member, and appended guidelines and definition
