The '93 1/2 special service package B4C Camaro made its first public appearance at the Michigan State Police Vehicle tests in September 1992. The B4C Camaro comes standard with the Corvette's LT1 tuned port fuel injected (TPI) 350 cid, 5.7L V8 engine. This produces 275 hp at 5,000 rpm and 325 pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm. It comes standard with dual side airbags and 4-wheel disc brakes with GM's proven ABS VI anti-lock braking system. The B4C Camaro set an all-time record in the Michigan State Police brake tests with an average deceleration, after an abusive brake warmup, of 30.34 fps2. The Camaro accelerates to 100 mph in 15.8 seconds, 1 1/2 second faster than last year's Camaro and more than 3 seconds faster than other pursuit-class vehicles. It set testing records in both acceleration and top speed (154 mph). This has been achieved without decreasing fuel economy from the '92 Camaro (test car-16.6 mpg). Curve negotiation was excellent. Overall, the Camaro's more powerful engine, stiffer body structure, improved suspension and steering, and anti-lock brakes have made it a world-class pursuit car.
