This manual presents methods and procedures for planning, organizing, and operating an injury and damage reduction (IDR) function in municipal police departments.
Abstract
A recommended IDR records system is described, along with training and inspection programs. The need to develop well-planned approaches to IDR and the importance of building evaluative procedures into IDR programs are emphasized. Although the manual is designed for use by municipal police departments, many of its recommended methods and procedures are also applicable to State police departments. The ultimate objective of IDR programs is identified as injury and damage reduction. The manual details IDR program organization and management, IDR planning, and IDR training and support activities. Additional information, guidelines, and forms associated with IDR program operation in municipal police departments are appended. 16 tables and 8 figures
