Nebraska's fiscal year 1993 juvenile corrections statistical report provides data on juvenile facility populations, admissions, and releases; parole; and foster- care placements.
Abstract
Data on juveniles under the supervision of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services are presented by institution and status (inmate, evaluation, and parole). Statistics on juveniles for each institution and status address location, sex, race, current age, county of commitment, reason for commitment, grade level, religious preference, length of stay in months, and breakdown by commitment and "safekeeper" (juveniles on parole admitted to a youth development center for "safekeeping" until the Juvenile Parole Authority has determined whether to reinstate the individual to parole or revoke parole). This information is provided also for youth development center admissions, juvenile commitments, evaluator admissions, parole admissions, total juvenile releases, commitment releases, evaluator releases, parole discharges, juvenile parole "safekeepers," and juvenile parole revocations. The number of foster care placements is presented by gender. The average juvenile correctional population for fiscal year 1993 was 530.2, and the average population at the youth development center at Kearney was 178.9. The center at Geneva had an average population of 73.5. Juveniles on parole averaged 277.8.
