This report of 1992 crime statistics in Missouri is based on data provided through the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting System (UCR). For statewide criminal activity, estimation routines were used to identify the actual number of crimes that occurred.
Abstract
The eight crimes included in the Crime Index include murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson; the first four comprise the Violent Crime Index and the latter four comprise the Property Crime Index. In 1992, there were over 252,000 crime index offenses reported in Missouri, a decrease of nearly 4 percent from the previous year. Almost 24 percent of the cases were cleared by arrest or exceptional means. Violent offenses made up 14.3 percent of the total 1992 Missouri crime index, a decrease of 2.0 from 1991. Property offenses made up the remaining 83.7 percent of the crime index, a decrease of 4.3 percent compared to 1991. 64 tables and 17 figures
