The first annual report of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) highlights progress made during the 1992-1993 fiscal year in dealing with violent crime, white collar crime, public corruption, drug trafficking, and organized crime.
Abstract
Established in 1951, the TBI has the statutory authority to investigate any criminal violation upon the request of the District Attorney General for the particular judicial district involved. The TBI has original jurisdiction in drug law enforcement, fugitive investigations, and organized crime. In addition, the TBI assists local law enforcement and participates with Federal law enforcement agencies in joint investigations. Major TBI divisions include the Criminal Investigation Division, the Forensics Services Division, and the Information Services Division. The administration of the TBI is described and illustrated, as well as responsibilities, functions, and activities of the three major divisions. Figures and photographs
