This publication presents descriptions of 36 programs focusing on alcohol and other drug abuse prevention among American Indian and Alaska Native people.
Abstract
Developed for and by American Indian and Alaska Native professionals and organizations, these prevention and wellness-promoting programs include a variety of events and activities and focus on communities, neighborhoods, schools, and families. Some are comprehensive, ongoing prevention programs, while others are annual, stand-alone events based in schools or communities. Each program is described with respect to its main target group, central feature, program components, planning steps, evaluation, any interagency cooperation involved, and funding. Program components may include assessments, surveys, staff training, curriculum development and delivery, camping experiences, community service programs, youth activities, and others.
