This report presents Delaware statewide crime data reported to local, State, and county police agencies in 1992.
Abstract

It is divided into the following sections: Delaware Part I Crime, including violent and property crime; regional crime comparison; illicit drug offenses; juvenile crime; clearances and arrest; Delaware population summary; and the jurisdiction report. Each section begins with a brief textual summary. This is followed by tables and graphs that detail the information. The juvenile crime section is new to this report for 1992. It contains information on juvenile arrests since 1986 for the State and by county. Arrest data for particular juvenile crime categories are also provided. Data indicate that in 1992 Part I offenses remained nearly the same as in 1991, showing a slight decrease of 1.8 percent, to 39,561 offenses. The crime rate per thousand population for Part I crime was 58.2 in 1992, compared to 59.9 in 1991. Part II offenses increased slightly to 130,757, compared to the 129,950 Part II offenses reported in 1992. Violent crime rose steadily between 1987 and 1991; it seems to have leveled off in 1992; 4,886 offenses were reported in 1991, compared to 5,004 reported in 1992. Delaware drug offenses increased from 3,596 to 6,889 from 1987 through 1991. In 1992 drug offenses dropped to 6,235, a 9.5 percent decrease.
