Undergraduate criminal justice majors will be assigned to troop headquarters for the duration of their internship, which is usually between 120 and 150 hours per semester. Graduate students will be assigned to division headquarters for policy and program development research. Graduate students will be compensated at about $8.00 per hour, while undergraduates will only receive college credit. Internship procedures are detailed as they relate to participating schools and the application process and to intern supervision, scheduling, and assignments. Benefits of participating in the New York State Police's internship program are discussed. Appendixes contain information on other agency responses to New York's police intership program, along with internship program forms.
