The data reflect 1992 crash reports submitted and processed as of January 15, 1993. Data on when crashes occur encompass the day of the week, time of day, and holiday traffic fatalities. Data pertinent to persons involved in crashes pertain to the sex and age of drivers; the use of safety equipment; the use of child safety restraints; and motorcyclist, bicyclist, and pedestrian fatality trends. Data on causal factors in crashes address alcohol-related crash trends for 1988-92, reported alcohol/drug use in traffic crashes, and leading contributing causes for drivers in crashes. County data show fatality and crash trends for each county, as well as alcohol-related fatalities and crashes by county. Data show there were 169,233 crashes with 262,578 drivers involved. There was an average of 462 crashes per day. A total of 1.8 percent of injury-causing crashes were fatal; 85.9 percent of fatal crashes involved a single fatality.
